No, not bad at all, Katarn

Ursula
It's based on the concept art of her at the LEC website and in Prima's guide. She's one of my favorite video game characters. Probably right behind Kyle and Cate Archer. I think I'll finish my pic of Kyle soon. I'll probably end up doing Archer once I beat NOLF 2 (gotta wait for an optical mouse; mine sucks for FPS at the moment). I love Gladius. I wish they'd do a second one. I like this piture, maybe with the exception of her face. Doesn't look much like her. |

Cate Archer.
As good as it is, I think it's too bland. I wish there were more poses to choose from than those standard wallpaper ones.

I have some more drawings to share. They are all of characters from the story I've been working on for the past four years. I had no reference on any of this since it's all from my imagination so it's not my best work, but some of it's cool. First, I have initial sketches of characters that are quite old. Second, I have the final results of them in rare color.
Main Heroes Concept Art http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...k/f81d2b6d.jpg Main Heroes Finalized Versions http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...visedcolor.jpg Yes, I realize his left leg is too long. He didn't really undergo too radical of a change. I wanted his outfit to stand out a bit more so I gave him a new shirt and made his jacket a bit too colorful. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...visedcolor.jpg I kept her face and slightly tweaked her hair. I gave her a totally new outfit though to make her look less like a hooker. ![]() Secondary Hero Concept Art http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...itialdraft.jpg I have a ton more of this guy and no final one. I liked this version's face and hair the best, but I have some much better designs for an outfit. I'm still scribbling stuff though so not sure when I'll be finished with his. Secondary Villain Concept Art http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...k/112633d8.jpg Secondary Villain Finalized Version http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...visedcolor.jpg He's my favorite. The inital version of this was inspired by the main villain of Baldur's Gate. The resemblance was a bit too uncanny so I did a total redesign of his armor and helmet. The only thing remaining in this version from the original is the dragon-like vertebrate on his chest plate. I drew him unmasked here because I like all of the scars and piercings on his face.

Nice to see ya around again, Rob! Thanks for the kind words. Here's one I drew during a few periods of my diversity class this past semester.
Ridley Scott's Gladiator http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...g?t=1210896446 The picture is kinda crummy and doesn't do justice to the crowd. They're really my favorite part of the whole picture.

It's not crummy, m8. It actually reminds me of some of the drawings/paintings I've seen from the medieval period. They had a more simplistic 'linear' style like this picture.
Anyway, I'd recommend trying to avoid lined paper for drawing if you can (even if you carry around a sketchpad everywhere with you). I used to doodle on lined paper, and now I've scanned images in to work on them it's a pain getting all the lines out. I find myself redrawing lots of images from scratch because of that. =/ I'm getting back into my own artwork, so maybe I'll post a couple of things I'm working on later. ![]() |

I meant the photo is crummy. I absolutely adore the actual picture. It's one of my favorite pictures I've done to date. Detailing every individual spectator took over an hour and was an absolute blast. The detail I put into them doesn't really stand out much here.
As for the lined paper, those are the ones that are an indication that I was doing them during class. I filled my Diversity and Psych notebooks with doodles. In that last one's case, it started out as a warrior. Then it turned into Maximus. And then everything else just followed suit. I should invest in a sketch pad and just carry it around. Here's one I might as well share, though it's a tad embarrassing. Especially because it's also all from memory ![]() Spongebob Squarepants http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...kiniBottom.jpg I look forward to seeing your stuff. That one sketch of Mara Jade in that cantina is what got me into drawing again! I doubt I'd have this many pics online to share had it not been for you.

Here's three I did at work, all are from memory.
Heath Ledger as the Joker: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...g?t=1212633868 Futurama http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...g?t=1212633962 Chicago Cub Ryan Theriot http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...g?t=1212634007 I rather enjoyed using marker as a medium. Every Joker I've ever attempted didn't turn out a fraction as good as this. I'm gonna do two other Cubs players tomorrow morning for some kids in their white and blue jerseys. I'm gonna give them the one above too. They really wanted it but I wanted to take a picture first . The resemblance isn't the greatest, but I was more concerned on the jersey's authenticity more than anything.

Your drawing is good, put it could use some shading. Even if it's in cell style, it'll give the picture alot more depth.
Just a thought. I've been doing alot of drawing in the past year, so I noticed that because it's a problem I had to get past myself. I have tendency to not want to shade, but in the end it does look alot better. |

Indeed. Shadows add depth and atmosphere, just as highlights can help to define characters and objects in a darkened scene.
